Research Your Family

If your people came through Millville, there is a good chance we hold something about them.

The Genealogical and Research Library is open to anyone, members and non-members alike, Wednesday and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., year-round. Admission is free and volunteer researchers are on hand. You do not need an appointment.

Much of it is paper, and most of it is not online.

People often come in asking about their own house. Deeds are held by the Cumberland County Clerk, not here, but the city directories, maps and photographs can tell you who lived at an address and roughly when. Bring the address and we will show you what we have.

Before you come

Bring what you already have. A name, an approximate date, and a street or a church will get you further than a name alone.

Write down what you are trying to find out, in one sentence. Our volunteers are good at this, and a clear question is the fastest route to an answer.

There is no charge and no membership requirement to use the library. If the Society has been useful to you, consider joining or making a gift. That is what keeps the doors open on Wednesdays and Sundays.
