The Millville Historical Society has been preserving this city's records, buildings, and stories since 1927. We do it with volunteers, and we do it on donations.
Every gift goes to the same three things: keeping three historic buildings standing, growing an archive that anyone can walk in and use, and keeping the doors open on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Where Your Gift Goes
Buildings: three historic properties
The 1857 bank building at 200 East Main Street, the 1798 Baracha Dunn House, and the 1814 David C. Wood Mansion. Roofs, heat, paint, and repair. The unglamorous work that keeps a building standing for the next hundred years.
Archive: the research collection
City directories, census records for 1830 to 1880, obituaries from 1936 forward, Mount Pleasant Cemetery records, maps, yearbooks, photographs, documents and relics. Gifts pay for supplies, storage, and the slow work of scanning fragile material before it is lost.
Access: open doors
Free admission, every Wednesday and Sunday afternoon and most Third Friday evenings, year-round. No admission charge has ever been the point. Donations are what make that possible.
How to Give
By mail: make your check payable to the Millville Historical Society and mail it to 200 East Main Street, Millville, New Jersey 08332.
In person: stop by 200 East Main Street during open hours, Wednesday or Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., or most Third Fridays from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We would rather meet you than receive an envelope.

What Giving Has Built
In December 2024, the 1886 Whitaker Ice Wagon was about to lose its home. The city-owned warehouse that housed it was being sold, and the wagon had to be out by the first week of January.
The Society asked for $10,000 to move it, build it a permanent storage building on the grounds of the Wood Mansion, and begin restoration.
Millville gave more than twice that.
The restored wagon was revealed at the Society's Annual Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social on September 12, 2026, with the ribbon cut by Franklyn Pangburn, 93, a Korean War veteran who rode the wagon as a child. It now stands on the grounds of the Wood Mansion, near the ice house.
That is what this community does when it is asked plainly for something specific.
